Penner/Reimer Research Aids

If you are looking to do family history research on the forebears of the Peter M. Penner (1880-1936) or Heinrich R. Reimer (1876-1959) families, here are some places to start.

· Familienregister Der Nachkommen Von Klaas und Helena Reimer mit Biographieren der ersten drei Generationen, 1958, edited by John C. Reimer (Regehr's Printing, Winnipeg, MB, Canada). Genealogy and biographies of the descendants of Klaas Reimer, first elder of the Kleine Gemeinde. Includes the Heinrich R. Reimer family.

· Penner, Peter Genealogy 1816, by C.W. Friesen and Peter J. Penner, (Derksen Printers Limited, Steinbach, MB, Canada, 1973), (284 pages). Peter Penner (1816-1884) was the grandfather of Peter M. Penner (1880-1936).

· Love God And Your Neighbor Too: Heinrich R. and Helena Reimer, by Lawrence Klippenstein, 1976 (31 pages). Includes a short autobiography of H.R. Reimer, some excerpts from his diary, and a family register tracing ancestors back to 1841.

· The Kleine Gemeinde Historical Series, a collection of seven books published by Delbert Plett. Contains much on the forebears of both Peter M. Penner and Heinrich R. Reimer.

· Preservings, a periodical published formerly by the Hanover Steinbach Historical Society and now by the Plett Foundation. Contains several articles on the Peter M. Penner and Heinrich R. Reimer forebears.

· The David F. and Helena Penner Family Picture Book, second edition, by Michael Penner, 2002 (60 pages). Family history of one of Peter M. Penner's children (David F. Penner) who married one of Heinrich R. Reimer's children (Helena D. Reimer).

· Contending For The Faith, by Mary Blondina Barkman, 2002 (113 pages). An biography of David F. Penner’s brother, Dr. Archie Penner, that includes a chapter entitled “Early Years in Landmark”.

· Reflections on our heritage, second printing, 1975 by various authors (373 pages). Pages 343 – 349 contain a history of the town of Landmark.
