Mennonite Genealogy with Michael Penner

Katharina Friesen (1854-1925)

Katharina and Isaac married in South Russia in 1873 and immigrated to Canada the following year. They settled south of present day Kleefeld, Manitoba on SW 9-6-5E, where they farmed. By 1891, they had acquired of the farm of Heinrich S. Friesen, Katharina’s brother, west of present day Kleefeld. They later moved to Jansen, Nebraska where they farmed. Isaac for a time served as a school teacher. The family later moved to Hillsboro, Kansas. In 1905, Katharina was reported as dealing with the aftermath of a tornado that swept across their property.
