Heinrich R. Reimer Children

Heinrich R. Reimer and Helena nee Dueck raised thirteen children. All the children were born while the Reimers resided in Clearsprings, Manitoba. The year after their last child, Elsie, was born, they moved to Prairie Rose (now called Landmark), Manitoba.

Prairie Rose was a small, tight-knit community, and it was only natural to find marriage partners from amongst the locals. And so it was that the Reimer children developed a special affinity with two particular neighboring families: the Peter M. Penners and the Banmann family. These families became deeply intertwined after four Reimer children married Peter M. Penner children and three more Reimers married Banmann children. Another intermarriage connection of note was that with Paulina Friesen, who married a Reimer and later a Penner.

A tradition for many years was the annual summer H.R. Reimer family gathering at the Landmark Park. With the Reimer family so large, it of course took a whole park to hold such an event! And so that some “non-Reimer” Penners would not feel left out, they were extended a standing invitation as honorary Reimers.

The last surviving of the Reimer siblings, our beloved Tante Tina, passed away January 22, 2007 at the age of 91.
