Forstei List of 1908

The Forstei List of 1908 is a list of wealthy Mennonite landowners and business people in Russia. The list was created for the purpose of taxation to fund the Russian Mennonite forestry service. The Mennonite forestry service was an alternate to military service.

I transcribed this list. Thanks to Tim Janzen for his careful proofreading.

A description and transcription of the Forstei List can be found on the Manitoba Mennonite Historical Society website. Note that just the “census” portion of the Forstei List has been transcribed. A full copy of the 72-page report is located at the Mennonite Heritage Centre (MHC) in Winnipeg in Volume 4046:2.
