Sources: Profiles, by Delbert Plett, p.15, Storm and Triumph, by Delbert Plett, p. 185, Pioneers and Pligrams, by Delbert Plett, p. 58. Abraham Rempel was a well read and prosperous farmer formerly of the Molotschna village of Margenau. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Esau in Rosenfeld [East Reserve, Manitoba]. He was the father of (1) the second wife of Peter Penner; (2) the wife of Cornelius F. Friesen; and (3) the second wife of Rev. Cornelius L. Plett. He also had a son Martin Rempel whose widow settled in Rosenort, Manitoba, in 1876. There may have been additional children. In 1865 there is a report of a well-do-to Kleine Gemeinde farmer Abraham Rempel of Margenau who was chastised at a brotherhood meeting for striking his herdsman. In December, 1874, there is a report that Abraham Rempel was of ill health. ■
